Watchers of the North (APTN, CBC, Knowledge Network, SBS Australia, PBS)

Watchers of the North is an action-packed six part documentary adventure series following the training, patrols and search & rescue missions of Canadian Rangers in two Nunavut communities.

Working with Picture This Productions in Montreal, I acted as supervising producer, in charge of repackaging the show with a new length for PBS, and managing the project to ensure it was within all of PBS’ broadcast standards.  Following the initial broadcast on APTN, I was also jointly responsible for social media management for the show.

The Family Farm (CBC Doc Channel)

In its journey across the majestic Canadian countryside, The Family Farm explores the diverse agricultural pursuits of earnest farm families, and serves as a window into the food production process that modern day consumers have become estranged from.

Working with Director/Producer, Ari A. Cohen at Rotating Planet in Montreal, I researched and interviewed family farmers from across Canada to find the best stories for this film, as well as helping to research and write pitches for dozens of other documentary film ideas.

Study Drug Confidential (Masters Thesis)

sdc-logo5“It’s eight hours of solid concentration in one little, easy-to-swallow capsule. It’s behind the achievements of students at elite-level universities across Canada, the United States, and elsewhere.  It’s a class of drug that everyone is using, and almost no one is talking about.  Until now.”

Study Drug Confidential is an investigative documentary web-project examining the ethics of study drug use among students at institutions of higher learning, and what is being done (and not done) to police it.

CBC News: Vancouver +

Through the CBC News: Vancouver BC News Scholarship, I had the great opportunity to report, produce, research, and write for Vancouver’s evening news (I also found myself occasionally in the roles of a broadcast technician and temporary assistant director).

Al-Jazeera English / UBC International Reporting Project

“Freedom without Pain” aired July 20, 2011 on Al-Jazeera English’s People & Power, developed with UBC International Reporting Project under the direction of Emmy-winning journalist Peter Klein.  With my excellent classmates and professors, each of us produced, wrote, directed, edited and shot this doc.  I was part of the Ukraine unit.  Watch AJE Livestreaming here
